A vocal youthful MP from the North Rift has reportedly taken a low profile after he "struck gold". His colleagues were overheard gossiping that the MP is finalising a deal for the purchase of a resplendent mansion in Karen. At the same time the man is allegedly behind a Sh300 million shopping mall coming up in Ongata Rongai. His colleagues believe these and other investment ventures have so much occupied his time that he is unable to attend party meetings as he used to.

A local NGO is threatening to sue an aspiring candidate for the Kandara parliamentary seat and her supporters for "hijacking" a medical camp organised by the NGO in the area. The supporters, wearing T-shirts and other branded attire, allegedly invaded the camp much to the dismay of the NGO whose officials insisted they leave. The ejection was supported by the villagers patiently waiting to be attended to by the doctors at the camp.

A top presidential aspirant is worried after an ex-girlfriend whom he made pregnant threatened to make their affair public. The girl has made similar threats in the past and the man has promptly met her financial demands to keep her quiet. He is now worried that buying her silence yet again might prove too expensive especially in view of the Ethics and Integrity clauses in the constitution.

Just who will replace Dr Alfred Mutua as government spokesman? Word doing the rounds is that Kenya Defence Forces official spokesperson, Major Emmanuel Chirchir, might just be tapped to fill the post after Mutua's departure on Monday. It seems the soldier has impressed the powers that be in government with his handling of Operation Linda Nchi incursion into Somalia and they think he can just as well speak on behalf of the government and not just the military!
