Share/Save/Bookmark Juja MP William Kabogo has defended his decision to ditch Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua in favour of Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta.Speaking when he hosted Kiambu County civic leaders at his parents’ home in Ruiru at the weekend, the MP said he has not fallen out with Karua although he now supports Uhuru.“It is not that I have anything against her, but it is our tradition to support our own,” he said alluding to a popular myth that Kiambu residents took oath not to let Kikuyu political leadership to cross Chania River in Thika. He said the meeting with the councilors was aimed at uniting leaders to support Uhuru at the county level.
He said he and Uhuru are planning a meeting to be attended by the councilors and their supporters in April. “When we call for the meeting, we request you to each come along with five of your supporters and five of the people you feel do not support you. Come with your spouses too,” he told the civic leaders.
The DPM, who addressed the councillors on the mobile phone, said they will be working to Kabogo said Central Kenya leadersare behind Uhuru, even with the imminent prosecution at the ICC.
He criticized some ODM leaders for agitating for Uhuru and other five to be prosecuted at the international court, saying that they (ODM leaders) should also have been among of the prime suspects.
The last time Uhuru met with civic leaders at his father’s home late last year, members of the press were barred from the meeting.
