Share/Save/Bookmark ODM has announced that it will hold grassroots elections between April 2 and 6 across the country before holding a National Delegates Convention.
The party’s National Election Board secretary Joseph Misoi announced yesterday at Orange House that ODM was ready for the polls. “Pursuant to a resolution of the Party’s National Governing Council and the requirement of the party’s constitution and Elections and Nomination Rules, the National Elections Board is pleased to inform all party members and the general public that the ODM Party grassroots elections shall be held from 2nd through to the 6th April 2011,” he said. “The National Elections Board is fully prepared for the task and urges members to continue registering and turn up in large numbers for the crucial exercise which will make ODM the party of choice and the future of Kenya,” he added. Party members will vie for positions at the branch, sub-branch, location and sub-location offices.
Last year, the party amended its constitution to make all the 47 counties branches with constituencies which we initially branches downgraded to sub braches.
Misoi warned that ODM will no tolerate any form of thuggery or hooliganism during the elections. “The Board will strictly apply rules as provided for in the Party’s Constitution, the Political Parties Act and the Constitution of Kenya,” he said.
Accordingly, the NEB,  free, fair and transparent election process will be ensured. Any party official flouting the code of conduct for political parties or who displays lack of commitment to the ODM Party and its leadership shall be disqualified from the exercise,” he added.
The elections boss said that the party National Delegates Convention will be held in Nairobi immediately thereafter.
