Maranda Boys Celebrate

Celebrations rocked Maranda Boys High School in Bondo after it emerged fourth nationally in last year’s KCSE. Thousands of students thronged Bondo trading center celebrating the performance of last year's KCPE candidates who put the school at the top in Nyanza province.

The school regained its lost glory by beating academic giants Maseno School and Kanga High which emerged second in the province. School principal Boaz Owino attributed the good performance to hard work, discipline, determination, discipline among students and confidence.

Owino said the school scored marks that have never been achieved despite dominating the province's academic map for decades. He said the last time the school made an improvement was in 1993 when it emerged number 11 nationally but the school has never made it to top 10 since it was started.

This year, the school made an impressive performance, producing five students in the provincial top ten slots. The school scored 51 straight As, 95 A minus, 55 B plus, 24 plain, 14 C minus, two C plus and one C plain. Apart from emerging third nationally, Maranda emerged top in Kiswahili and CRE.
