The nationwide Kenya Power and Lighting Company strike has been called off.
A statement by the power supplier said the Kenya Electrical Trades and Allied Workers Union (KETAWU) Secretary General, Mr Earnest Nadome called off the strike involving a section of the Kenya Power & Lighting Company Limited unionisable staff on Monday evening.
"This follows a consultative meeting between KPLC Management and the Union, which was chaired by Ministry of Labour officials in Nairobi this afternoon," said KPLC.
"Mr Nadome has subsequently requested striking workers to go back to work tomorrow".
The first conciliation meeting between the company's management and KETAWU will start on Tuesday at the Ministry of Labour headquarters.
Workers at the company had threatened to plunge the country into darkness as they downed tools in support of their coastal region counterparts who went on strike last week.
They had vowed not to resume work until all their grievances were addressed. Earlier KPLC management had warned that the strike was illegal and threatened to take disciplinary action against anyone who took part in the strike.
