Things have gone full circle for political activist and media personality Tony Gachoka. Word is out that Tony has abandoned Saboti MP Eugene Wamalwa and joined Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta’s camp to work on an anti-ICC publicity blitz. Tony was in Uhuru’s camp just before the 2002 general elections when President Moi anointed Jomo Kenyatta’s son as his preferred successor. Tony then decamped to Water minister Charity Ngilu’s Narc party and after the 2007 elections was ensconced with Prime Minister Raila Odinga from where he jumped ship to join ranks with Jimi Kibaki. He then moved on to back Eugene Wamalwa presidential ambitions. Now he is back with Uhuru!

A PNU MP is reportedly planning to demand a ministerial statement to explain the circumstances in which a relative of a prominent politician was deported from the US. The MP says his question was provoked by Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s claim last week that some of his competitors are drunks and thieves who cannot be trusted with leadership.

A top official at the office of the Attorney General is allegedly at the centre of the multimillion-shilling Muhotetu Farmers Company Ltd land dispute. The official is said to have facilitated the registration of some directors who then authorised the sale of a 2,000-acre parcel in Naivasha. The deal was that the farm would be sold for Sh360 million with the official getting a 10 per cent cut. The buyer has reportedly paid Sh36 million but is withholding the rest because of a raging wrangle in the company leadership.

A former MP who a lost a petition and the subsequent by-election last year has written the Advocates Complaints Committee claiming a Nairobi lawyer conned him out of Sh4 million. The former MP says the advocate with offices on Mama Ngina Street refused to transfer the money into his account after receiving it on his behalf from a client in another transaction not related to the petition.
