RAIN HAVOC

Heavy rains that pounded the city Wednesday evening have left a trail of destruction leaving commuters stranded and spending long hours stuck in the traffic jam.

The rains that were accompanied by thunderstorms ripped roof tops of some buildings and brought down advertising bill boards.

The city council spent the entire night clearing roads while some city commuters arrived home from work well past midnite.

City residents were caught unawares by the rains which are reported to have caused heavy flooding in some estates.

The meteorological department had predicted an El-nino although but downgraded the intensity of the attendant damage.

Two people died and several others injured when a tree fell on a city bus following the heavy downpour.
