Cord principal Kalonzo Musyoka has said referendum is the only option left to redeem Kenyans from their problems.
He said the Kenyan law asks for one million signatures to call for a referendum, but they will collect as many as 10 million to dispel any attempts of rigging during the polls.
“With 10 million signatures we can be sure that we are going to win in the referendum polls,” Kalonzo said.
He said the Jubilee government has lost focus in its leadership and the country is currently on “auto-pilot mode”.
The Wiper leader was speaking on Thursday evening at an iftar dinner hosted by Sheikh Twaha Omar, the Kenya Muslim Yatima Foundation chairman, in his Kiembeni home in Mombasa.
Kalonzo dismissed Interior Secretary Joseph ole Lenku’s remarks that the opposition is using a fake promise of free government land in Nakuru and North Rift to collect signatures for the referendum.
Lenku claimed that some people are using land to dupe Kenyans to append their names, ID numbers and signatures.
“This person needs prayers because whatever he tells us does not make sense. We will collect as many signatures as possible because Kenyans are sick of this regime,” Kalonzo said.
He said he believes that 2015 will be a referendum year and the opposition will defeat the government in the poll.
