IN SUMMARY
- Under the office of the Attorney-General and Department of Justice, the name of Prof Githu Muigai is missing in the new structure. Also missing is that of the Solicitor-General. Mr Wanjuki Muchemi, who held the position until last week, retired to pursue other interests.
President Kenyatta and his deputy, Mr William Ruto, are yet to fill key positions in their offices — including that of the Attorney-General, which has been left blank under the new structure of government published Tuesday.
Among the substantive positions yet to be filled are the chief of staff in the Office of the President and the principal administrative secretary in the Office of the Deputy President.

Although the name of Secretary to the Cabinet was left blank, Parliament yesterday approved the nomination of Mr Francis Kimemia to fill the position.
Dogged by controversy
All the positions of principal secretaries for the 18 ministries have not been filled either. Although the Public Service Commission handed a list of 66 nominees to Mr Kenyatta and Mr Ruto earlier this month, the short-list has been dogged by controversy, which has delayed the unveiling of the names.
The commission has been accused of failing to vet the nominees in the manner prescribed by law amid claims that some of those shortlisted were being investigated over corruption allegations.
Some ministries will have more than one principal secretary. In the East African Affairs, Commerce and Tourism, one will be in charge of East African Affairs and another will head Commerce and Tourism.
In the Ministry of Devolution and Planning, one will be in charge of Devolution and the other Planning. Same with Education where one will head the Education docket and the other the Science and Technology docket.
