Sunday November 25, 2012 - For those Kenyans who claimed that the mooted alliance between Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto is “unworkable”, now it is evident that the pre-election agreement between Uhuru and Ruto will be formally signed next week.
According to a credible source, Uhuru and Ruto met on Saturday evening to finalise on the party symbol that will represent their joint presidential ticket.
The source said the two however, are considering having their parties – The National Alliance (TNA) and United Republican Party (URP) – maintain their individual identities.
The party symbol would only be used by the presidential candidate and running mate while URP and TNA remain and individually field candidates for other positions.
Uhuru and Ruto are said to have agreed on the deal and it will be sealed by the end of this week to allow the players in the alliance to participate in joint rallies to market the coalition.
The two leaders’ joint rallies will start next weekend, immediately after signing the pre-election deal.
