Friday October 5, 2012 - Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka may benefit from the latest pre-election pact between him, Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto, DAILY POST has established.
According to an MP who attended the Thursday afternoon meeting at Norfolk hotel in Nairobi, the three leaders discussed how to bolster their crusade against Raila Odinga through a compromise candidate.
The MP said the three leaders touched the issue of International Criminal Court (ICC) cases where they touted Kalonzo as the possible compromise candindate in the event that Uhuru and Ruto are barred from contesting.
Speaking after the meeting, one of the aides of the three leaders who sought anonymity revealed that they agreed to mount a joint assault against Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
“What I can tell you for sure is that the issue of a compromise candidate was discussed at length because the leaders do not want to leave anything to chance. They want to launch a major campaign to tame Raila’s popularity in all regions,” he said.
