As the clock ticks towards the next General Election, the number of the presidential aspirants continues to increase.
Internal Security Minister Prof George Saitoti hinted he will join the race to State House come 2012.
The minister, who once served as the Vice President, asked his opponents and Kenyans to watch his moves.
"When time comes, the Maasai will go with other Kenyans. If the people demand it, then it is alright, because power comes from the people," said Saitoti.
Saitoti said Kenyans were yet to reap the fruits of the Constitution
and urged the public to shun tribalism and hatred.
The minister made the remarks during a prayer service conducted by the Administration Police Evangelistic Team (APET) in partnership with other churches in Mile Tisa in Kajiado County yesterday.
Saitoti told residents that they should work with the police to ensure peace in the region and in the country.
Accompanied by area MP Joseph Nkaissery, Saitoti called on the church to remain united in preaching peace and reconciliation.
Nkaissery dismissed media reports that alleged he had ditched ODM party. "I am in ODM permanently as the deputy secretary-general. You do not run away from home because your father has made a mistake," said Nkaissery.
Remain vigilant
The Defence Assistant Minister also took issue with his party, saying that the Maasai have not benefited from ODM.
"We as Maasai have not reaped from the ODM wing of Government yet we overwhelmingly voted for it," added Nkaissery.
He said that he will throw his support behind Saitoti and urged the Maasai to remain united before they chart their political destiny.
The Assistant Minister pointed out that they would not entertain party politics since this would wreck their votes and urged the locals to remain vigilant.
Kajiado County Council chairman Taraiya ole Kores said that the Maa community will soon decide where they will stand politically in 2012.
