Weke to seek damages for stopped poll

Share/Save/Bookmark Kamukunji aspirant Brain Weke yesterday hinted that he was planning to move to court to seek damages following the cancellation of the by-election.
The Narc-K flagbearer said he was consulting his lawyer and will soon file a petition to be compensated expenses he had incurred during the campaigns.
He however intimated that a delay in filing the case had been occasioned by confusion as to who exactly should be sued. “I am currently consulting my lawyers and the moment we establish the one to sue, then I will move to court immediately,” Weke said.
The youthful politicians regretted that the campaigns had caused him a lot physically, emotionally and financially. “We are talking of the drain, man-hours pout in the campaign and of course the finances which are enormous,” he added.
The Narc Kenya politician however insisted that it was hard to establish exactly how much he had incurred in expense saying his campaigns were funded by supporters. “My supporters majority who are poor contributed one hundreds shillings, my campaign team was made up of volunteers, but I can assure it’s a lot of money,” he said.
Weke said that has now concentrating his energies in explaining what the court ruling meant to his constituents’. ODM’s Ibrahim Ahmed and PNU’S Hassan Abdi were also said to be holding strategy meetings in Kamkunji to pan on their next cause of action.
They two have in the recent past exchanged accuses and allegations over to who is responsible for the case that stopped the May 23 by-election.
