End of KACC?

It might be the end of the Kenya Anti Corruption Commission if a bill that seek to bring to and end the anti graft body is adopted by parliament.

The bill by Garsen MP Danson Mungatana seeks to have the Attorney General take over all maters there were hitherto held by Kenya Anti Corruption Commission.

The two page bill the anti- corruption and economic crimes repeal bill 2009 which underwent the 1st reading Tuesday afternoon unlike that that disbanded the Electoral commission of Kenya gives a leeway to staff of the commission to seek redeployment once it is effected.

However with the coming into effect of the bill the advisory board and directors ceases to hold office.

The bill also ensures that all corruption cases currently pending in courts proceeds under the AGs mandate.

Once adopted the bill comes into effects within two months or any day the minister of Justice may wish before the expiry of the 60 days.
