Wetang'ula claims Kamanda threatened to kill him over Mpeketoni attack

Senate Minority Leader Moses Wetang'ula has recorded a statement with the police after he allegedly received death threats from Starehe MP  Maina Kamanda. Wetang'ula recorded a statement at Parliament Police Station under OB39/17/June 2014 Tuesday at 4:50pm.

In his statement Wetangu'la claims that Kamanda accosted him on Monday and told him to his face "Wewe na Raila mumeua watu wetu, we will kill both of you" loosely translated 'You(Wetang'ula) and Raila have killed our people."

Kamanda did not deny or confirm the alleged threat when The Star reached him for a comment. He said "things are bad" and claimed that Cord was fomenting trouble with their rallies.

Speaking earlier in Nairobi,  Jubilee MPs allied to TNA said they will hold a parallel rally in Uhuru Park on July 7 to counter Cord's planned Saba Saba Day rally in the Kamukunji Grounds.

 The MPs said the Cord rally was a scheme by its leader Raila Odinga to capture state power through the backdoor.  They warned that members of the Kikuyu community will “not sit at home and watch TV” as Raila captures power by force.

 Speaking on Tuesday during a rally at Muthurwa Market, the MPs urged members of the Kikuyu community to come out and protect the Uhuru Presidency by all means possible.

 “I want to tell Raila that all members of the Kikuyu community will protect Uhuru’s Presidency by all means necessary,” Maina Kamanda said.  “The fact that we are silent does not mean that we don’t know what is happening. I urge you all to be ready to respond when we sound the warning. We must defend the Uhuru Government,” he said.

 Kamanda was accompanied to the rally by MPs Kareke Mbiuki (Maara), Mary Wambui (Othaya), Francis Waititu (Juja), Chege Njoroge (Kasarani), Ben Mutura (Makadara), Richard Tongi (Nyaribari Chache), Kimani Ichung'wa (Kikuyu) and George Theuri (Embakasi West).
