President Kenyatta has called for a speedy solution between the Sudan and South Sudan governments.
The President said Wednesday a quick resolution is needed for all outstanding issues in the two countries.
"Being the guarantor of the comprehensive peace agreements between these nations, we call for a quick political and diplomatic resolution," said President Kenyatta when he opened the Great Lakes Special Summit in Gigiri, Nairobi.
He said good neighbourliness and brotherhood was conducive for prosperity while animosity and suspicion erodes stability and deprives people of the synergy required to develop.
"Kenya is concerned about the fresh outbreak of violence in North Kivu, which has initiated a fresh cycle of humanitarian crisis in the region.
"We, therefore, appeal for a cessation of attacks on civilians especially women and children, and for a quick resolution of the crisis," said President Kenyatta.
Uganda president Yoweri Museveni is set to officially open Wednesday's session.
