Jubilee unveils its House leaders

The Jubilee Coalition has settled on its list of House leaders following two meetings at State House, Nairobi, on Monday that were attended by President Uhuru Kenya and his deputy William Ruto.
At the meeting with senators, Prof. Kindiki Kithure was elected leader of majority in Parliament, Mr. Charles Keter as deputy leader while Ms Beatrice Arachi was elected the Government Chief Whip.
At the meeting with members of the National Assembly, Aden Duale was endorsed as majority leader in Parliament, Dr. Naomi Shabaan as the deputy majority leader while Katoo ole Metito was endorsed as the Government Chief whip.
Mumias Member of Parliament Benjamin Washiali was endorsed as the deputy chief whip.
During the two separate meetings, President Kenyatta emphasized the need for all the Jubilee Members of National Assembly and Senators to work together in delivering the Government’s pledges to Kenyans.
Speaking during the meeting with senators, the President pointed out that wananchi have high expectations on the senators as they are responsible for overseeing and providing leadership to the implementation of devolution.
President Kenyatta said he looked forward to working with senators across the board in rolling out devolution and harmonizing issues arising between the two levels of Government.
The President further noted that the senators will play an important role of setting a precedent on how the two levels of government will work in delivering services to Kenyans.
During the meeting with the Jubilee Members of the National Assembly, President Kenyatta urged them to work together and support each other in passing Bills that will enable the coalition deliver on its pledges in the shortest time possible.
Reaffirming his commitment to an open-door approach in the running of public affairs, the President said he is ready to consult with Members of Parliament on a regular basis to iron out any arising issues.
“I am keenly looking forward to working with you to make the Jubilee Government a true success story that will transform Kenya,” President Kenyatta said.
On his part, Deputy President Ruto underscored the need for the Jubilee Members of Parliament to form a seamless focused team that will work together to steer the Government agenda in Parliament.
The Deputy President reassured the Members of Parliament that he and the President will support them in implementing development projects in their constituencies, saying their success will translate to good services to Kenyans and victory to the Jubilee Coalition.
