WILSON SOSSION in TROUBLE with teachers for saying that KNUT supports UHURU/ RUTO

Tuesday March 19, 2013 - A crack is emerging within the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) following the remarks made by the Union Chairman Wilson Sossion over the weekend that KNUT and indeed all teachers are in totality willing to support Uhuru Kenyatta’ Jubilee Government.

Speaking during the funeral of the former Bureti MP in Chemosot, Sossion said that “although he respected the CORD leader Raila Odinga, it was wrong for the country to be in perpetual election mood, and therefore KNUT will support President elect Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto”.

This statement has elicited sharp reactions from the KNUT leaders from Nyanza led by Joshua Ogallo, Nyanza’s KNUT Secretary General who have dismissed and distanced themselves from Sossion allegation saying he was not speaking for all the teachers since he was not the KNUT spokesman.

According to Joshua, Sossion’s statement was totally out of line since KNUT is a trade union and therefore should not engage in political matters.

They accused Sossion of playing politics with the union at the expense of teachers for his own gains.
