NOMINATED MP Maison Leshomo has denied claims she incited the violence in Samburu in which more than 40 police officers were killed last Saturday.
The MP also denied allegations by former director of the Committee of Experts Ekuru Aukot that she has been inciting the Samburu to fight the Turkana and threatened to sue him.
"I am ready to be investigated. I am ready for any eventuality. I am a peacemaker and have been a peacemaker ever since l was a civic leader. I am still looking for peace for my people and there is no way l can advocate for the killing of my people," Leshomo said yesterday at Parliament Buildings.
She said she was keen to know what really led to the killing of the 42 policemen. “Cows are stolen every day, but we have never had killings of this magnitude. I also want to know what happened ,” Leshomo said, warning Aukot against politicising the incident.
She denied claims that she has been putting pressure on the police commander and provincial administration to conduct an operation targeting the Turkana.
Leshomo also denied being in Baragoi on the day of the incident but confirmed she had attended the burial of 12 Samburu morans who were killed during a cattle raid at a Turkana village in Lomirok.
She gave her itinerary for October 30 to November 10 which she said indicates she was not in Baragoi at the time of the incident. Leshomo said she was at a peace building exercise in Isiolo on November 10 when she got news of the killing of the policemen.
