After the accident, Kibaki people wanted him to be treated in Nairobi because treatment abroad would be expensive.
Raila advised that knowing Moi's people, Mr Kibaki would not be safe at Nairobi Hospital.
They reluctantly agreed to fly him abroad. Raila was concerned at how Mr Kibaki was being handled. On the day Mr Kibaki was to be flown out, Raila arrived at the airport to find that Kibaki was to be flown on the economy class, because it was cheaper.
Raila insisted that based on the nature of Kibaki's injuries, comfort was essential. After back and forth arguments, Raila got out his credit card and paid for Premier Class tickets for Mr Kibaki and three of his handlers, including the doctor.
He also made arrangements with his contacts in London to have the team received and checked into the best hospital possible".
RAO vigorously campaigned 4 Kibaki all over the country throughout the period the latter was grounded on a wheel chair.
The rest of his presidential campaign was thus conducted by his NARC colleagues in his absence, led by Raila Odinga who campaigned tirelessly for Kibaki after stating that "The captain has been injured in the field... but the rest of the team shall continue."
Lest we forget, facts are stubborn. They don’t wobble!
Lest we forget, facts are stubborn. They don’t wobble!
We know power corrupts and its sufficient to make one’s conscience take a ten year holiday, but the ten years are slowly fading away and soon the conscience will return’
After Mzee returns to his home in Othaya he will have to accommodate HIM.
The least Kibaki could have done in appreciation is to Endorse RAO.
Onyakundi.
