Thursday August 16, 2012 - President Mwai Kibaki has joined other Kenyans in mourning the 13 Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) members who perished last week in a grisly accident in Tanga, Tanzania.
In an emotional speech read by Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, the Head of State said the death of the women was a big blow not just to PCEA, but also to the nation.
The president said the government had footed the bill for those hospitalised and it will meet all the burial costs for the deceased faithfuls.
Kibaki also said the government was considering helping children left behind by the deceased.
Kibaki urged Kenyans of goodwill to help in assisting the deceased families and vowed to continue assisting the members until the mourning dust settles.
The 13 women were among a group of 84 faithfuls who attended a church function in Tanga, Tanzania.
