BALALA’s take on PWANI si KENYA and ROGO’s murder

Thursday August 30, 2012 - Mvita MP Najib Balala has insisted that Coast Province is part of Kenya and will remain to be part of Kenya.
In a televised interview on Thursday morning, Balala who is a former Tourism Minister said Mombasa Republican Council (MRC) is a group of youths hired by opportunistic politicians to push for their own selfish political agenda.
He urged coast residents to distance themselves from the secessionist group by promoting peace in the region.
On the Sheikh Aboud Rogo’s killing, Balala condemned the killing of the Islamic cleric urging the government to order probe into the killing.
He cited murder of another preacher, Samir Hashim Khan, and the disappearance of Mohamed Bekhit Hassan and four others in April this year as part of a wider campaign by security agents to execute Muslim leaders.
“I am seeing the hand of the Americans in the killing of Muslim leaders,” Balala said.
However, Balala condemned the attack on churches saying that Islam did not condone attacks on places of worship.
He urged Muslims community in Kenya to maintain calm and restraint as police continue with investigations.
