1 DEAD, 2 injured and 30 houses destroyed in Kabarnet

Friday, August 17, 2012 - News just in indicates that there has been a heavy down pour in the Rift Valley region that has led to a mudslide at Kabarnet area. The incident has claimed one life and two people have been reported injured.

According to the Kenya Red Cross, over 30 houses have been destroyed and there are fears of more fatalities because the morning incident has left some people trapped in the mud. The heavy rains started last night and made the ground loose.

Police, Kenya Red Cross volunteers and residents are on ground trying to rescue injured victims. Some of the injured have been rushed to Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital for treatment.
