Security officers guarding President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto fought for kikois meant for guests at the Kenya @50 corporate partnership dinner on Saturday at the Nairobi National Park. The two groups were wrestling for the Kikois in front of the guests. Unperturbed by their shameful act some went ahead to throw insults at the ushers who tried to stop them.

Still on the dinner, some of the guests who attended the Kenya@50 dinner got so drunk that they cared less about what they said and to whom. They boasted about their connections and wealth as they were being driven out of the Nairobi National Park in a bus to their limos!

Simon Mbugua rumoured chairmanship of the Betting Control Board is a proposal that was shot down so viciously on Saturday. Some of those with powers to influence appointments told the Star that Mbugua is the last person they will consider for such a crucial position. It is not clear why many of those power brokers hate Mbugua but one thing is clear, he is not about to get a government appointment soon!

A gun dealer in Eastliegh is making a kill from his illegal business despite the knowledge of some security officers in the area. The guns come from Somalia, Ethiopia and Sudan and are kept in several houses in Eastleigh. The gun runner, in his early fifties, works with a Sudan-based Kenyan woman and is protected by a senior police officer. The dealer sells a Ceska pistol or a revolver for between Sh50,000 and Sh70,000. He hires out guns to criminals for Sh7000. Somali women who pose as genuine miraa dealers in Eastleigh have also been hiding guns for him.
