Residents of Nairobi's Huruma estate Sunday protested the rising cases of insecurity after a prominent businessman was shot and seriously wounded in the area.
It took efforts of a contingent of security personnel to calm down the residents who accused police of laxity in dealing with crime upsurge in the area.
The victim was rushed to hospital with serious gunshot wounds after unknown criminals accosted him near Kiamaiko slums.
According to the residents, similar cases have been reported in the recent past. The residents are accusing police of laxity saying criminal gangs are now causing them sleepless nights.
A contingent of security personnel comprising regular and administration police was deployed to the area to restore normalcy after the residents brought business to a standstill for the better part of the morning.
