ODM bigwigs are in panic mode after Siaya Senator James Orengo’s fiercest rival in the 2007 elections, Steve Mwanga, decamped to the Jubilee Alliance Party to contest the North Ugenya ward seat in the August 17 by-election. Mwanga is said to have been blocked from the ODM ticket by party bigwigs. They have, however, gone back to the drawing board after they sensed JAP will do what it takes to clinch the seat in the predominantly ODM region.

An MCA in Nyanza is a worried man as he is said to be under the EACC's radar for allegedly conspiring to earn Sh1 million from the county for services rendered by his firm. The man has used his position to get business from the county assembly. Fearing arrest, the man has resorted to playing hide-and-seek games with the anti-graft officials.

The Auditor General has declared that MCAs in Kakamega county assembly have a “premeditated inclination to benefit from public resources by all means”. According to the Auditor General, the 87-member assembly has at times had sessions with as many as 159 'members' attending. He gives an example of nine instances where between 88 and 118 members were concurrently transacting business of the House. This is the same House that had, in 2014, booked all 87 members on the same flight to South Africa for a benchmarking tour! The question is where are the speaker and clerk when non-members attend the proceedings of the assembly?

A group of Jubilee-leaning MPs from Western nearly came to blows after they failed to share money given to them by a top Jubilee operative for campaigns in the region. Our mole said the money was given to a first-term MP who has emerged as the natural leader of the group. The money was to be used to popularise Jubilee in Kakamega. But unknown to his colleagues, the man decided to satisfy his needs before sharing out the balance to colleagues. He escaped from a top hotel in Kakamega in the nick of time before his colleagues arrived to demand the balance of their share.
