Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Tuesday arrested Mombasa county minority leader who is also Jomvu Ward MCA Karisa Nzai over Sh200,000 bribe allegations.
Mombasa EACC head Hassan Khalid said Nzai is said to have demanded Sh200,000 from a Mombasa businessman from his Jomvu Ward to obtain favors from the County.
"These are a series of cases we are following up in this county, the suspect was arrested upon receiving the bribe and will be arraigned in court after order by the ODPP," Khalid said.
The suspect is currently being held at EACC offices in Mombasa and will spend the night at police cells before he is arraigned in court on Wednesday.
EACC detectives are also following up some bribe allegations from Kwale county where some senior officials are said to have favored their relatives and close friends in getting services at the County especially on tendering processes.
"We have received a series of complaints and bribe allegations not even from Kwale but almost all countries at the Coast, soon those concerned will be brought to book," Khalid said.
