GSU officers attacked by gunmen at Hindi near

GSU officers have been attacked by unknown gunmen at Hindi on their way to Lamu. Hindi is a few kilometres from Mpeketoni where more than 60 people were killed in Sunday attacks.
The fresh attack is said to have taken place between GSU officers and unknown gunmen. According to reports the incident took place between Hindi and Mokowe when the assailants shot at the GSU vehicles from the forest. The GSU officers shot back at the attackers silencing gunfire from the forest.
Earlier in the day residents of Hindi village vacated their homes in fear and camped at the Hindi Prison and forests following rumours that starngers had been seen hanging around the village.
 Area senior chief Abdalla Shahasi called an emergency meeting in the town. Police were called in to patrol the town. Visitors coming into or through Hindi town have been asked to register at the chief’s office before proceeding to their destinations.
