BUDALANGI MP Ababu Namwamba has allayed fears that he may ditch ODM should he fail to capture the party’s secretary general position.
He said he is and will remain loyal to the party as he has its interest at heart.
“I will remain in ODM even if I lose in the elections,” said Namwamba in a meeting with ODM delegates in Mombasa on Wednesday.
His opponents include Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwang’ and nominated Senators Agnes Zani and Elizabeth Ongoro. The former Sports minister said he is best placed for the position as he is youthful and experienced in politics.
Namwamba said Zani is “green” in politics. “I have been fighting hard for ODM and Raila and that is why they called me ‘The General’.
Now that I am looking for a leadership position in the party, I have suddenly become a mole,” Namwamba said. He accused some ODM leaders of running cartels in the party.
“We have a cartel of some individuals within the party who choose who should be nominated for positions. I’m going to fight and finish this cartel,” Namwamba said.
He said the cartel is responsible for the loss to Jubilee in last year’s elections.
