Siaya Governor Loses Gubernatorial Seat

Siaya Governor Loses Gubernatorial Seat
Siaya county governor Cornel Rasanga has lost his seat after the high court in Kisumu nullified his election
The election of Rasanga as governor was nullified by Justice Aggrey Muchelule who said the election was marred by fraud.
The petition against Rasanga was filed by William Oduol who vied for the same seat during the March 4th general election.
In his petition, Oduol had alleged there were several instances of immense ballot stuffing and asked the court to nullify Rasanga’s victory in the gubernatorial poll.
Justice Muchelule ordered for a fresh by-election.
Rasanga becomes the first governor to lose his seat owing to a court petition
24 petitions have been filed in court challenging election of governors after the last general election.
