Nairobi, Kenya: ODM Party leader Raila Odinga will Tuesday chair the meeting of the party'sNational Executive Committee (NEC) at the party headquarters, Orange House in Nairobi.
Raila calls the meeting amid the storm he kicked after joining the clamour for constitutional change through a referendum where he sought changes to presidential system of voting.
The meeting is expected to discuss among other issues the upcoming National Governing Council meeting in Nairobi whose date will be communicated at the end of the meeting.
A statement sent to the media by ODM director of communications Philip Etale did not divulge much of the agenda before the party’s top decision making organ.
The party has been facing internal differences over the referendum and calls for changing the presidential election structure as well as confronting a push for change from a section of youthful MPs seeking to replace old guards in the party.
The move to overhaul party leadership has been greeted by stiff opposition from the older politicians and MPs who have served longer among them Jakoyo Midiwo.
MPs George Oner (Rangwe) and Ken Obura (Kisumu Central) have pressing for a change of guard in the party rank and file while retaining Raila as the party leader saying the youthful generation would inject fresh blood and thoughts into the party echelons.
He will later address the media on resolutions of the meeting.
