The International Criminal Court has rejected Kenya's deputy president's application to vary sittings in his trial due to open next month.
The Trial Chamber V ruled Thursday that William Ruto will attend court daily when his trial for crimes against humanity starts on on September 10.
"Today, Trial Chamber V (a) has rejected the Defence for Mr William Samoei Ruto’s request to vary the hearings schedule in order for the chamber to sit two weeks on and two weeks off beginning from the start of trial (scheduled 10 September 2013), and until further notice," the judges said in their decision.
"Trial Chamber V (a) confirms that it will sit on a daily basis from 10 September to 4 October 2013 and from 14 October to 1 November 2013."
The judges said they will issue further sitting schedules.
The Chamber "stressed the significance of advancing as much as possible in the case of Mr Ruto and Mr Sang, before constraints related to other cases affect the schedule, noting that there may be a need to modify the sitting schedule in the present case once the trial in the Kenyatta case commences."
