President Uhuru pledges to educate ‘Otonglo’ narrator

Nairobi, Kenya: President Uhuru Kenyatta has offered full education sponsorship up to the university level for Daniel Owira.
Owira, a Form Two student at Highway Secondary School won the hearts of many when he perfomed his oral narrative at State House Mombasa in the just ended national drama festival.
Uhuru and the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta were left in stitches during his perfomance in the captivating narrative dubbed “Otonglo”. He narrated the frustrations of job-seekers who travel from their rural homes to Nairobi after completing their studies.
And today (Wednesday), President Uhuru invited Owira, his mother and sister Susan to State House where he made his pledge. This was after the Labour Day celebrations at Uhuru Park.
“I have today offered full education sponsorship up to the university level to Daniel Owira when he visited me at State House.
He is now one of my sons and will give me his report form at the end of every term”, read Uhuru’s update on his Facebook page
The talented student lives with his widowed mother and other siblings at Fuata Nyayo slum near Nairobi's South B estate.
Owira has been experiencing difficulties in raising his school fees and had huge arrears.
His plight was highlighted in on of the local TV stations and many Kenyans including music artist Jaguar made their contributions.
