- The former VP said comments by some of his party MPs and senators had created a wrong impression that he was the one pushing the idea.
Former Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka says he has not asked any of his party MPs to step down for his return to Parliament.
Reacting to debate in his Wiper party for two weeks, Mr Musyoka yesterday said he was surprised some MPs were discussing the matter when no such request had been made to any of them.
“The party has been discussing the wider Cord strategy but none of the MPs has been asked to relinquish their seat,” he said.
Stop the debate
He said as party leader, he had certain obligations both to the Cord alliance and the country which would be achieved through wide consultations.
“As Cord, we have our plans and are fully aware of constitutional requirements, so they should stop the debate and allow me to reflect on my future,” Mr Musyoka said.
During the Naivasha retreat, Mr Musyoka was proposed to be the minority leader in the National Assembly.
The former VP said comments by some of his party MPs and senators had created a wrong impression that he was the one pushing the idea.
“I’ve not even responded to the proposal but some people are going round saying they won’t step down for me and yet they haven’t been asked to do so,” he said.
