IEBC: Raila petition ‘good for democracy’

By Caroline Rwenji
NAIROBI; KENYA: The electoral commission has lauded Prime Minister’s move to go to court after losing the March 4 General Election that saw Uhuru Kenyatta declared winner.
Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission ( IEBC) Chairman Issack Hassan said taking the petition to court was a sign Kenya has matured.
“As a commission, we wish to thank the petitioner for his approach to the resolution of his grievances,” he said.
He also thanked Mr Kenyatta and Jubilee for the readiness to accept the judicial settlement of the dispute, saying the move unified the country.  The Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Willy Mutunga, he said, has proven its high level of professionalism.
“It is a historic case and the ruling is both a precedent and a landmark decision that will guide future elections in our country, because this is the first presidential petition to be filed before this court. The court has demonstrated high level of professionalism by listening impartially to the litigants through their counsels,” he said.
He also urged Kenyan’s to remain united and peaceful

  1. Undeniably imagine that which you said. Your favorite reason appeared to be on the internet the simplest factor
to take into account of. I say to you, I certainly get
irked whilst other people think about worries that they just
do not realize about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the
highest and also outlined out the whole thing with no need side effect , people can take a signal.
Will likely be again to get more. Thank you
