Uhuru roots for Waititu

By Augustine Oduor
Nairobi, Kenya: Jubilee presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta has come to the defense of TNA Nairobi Governor aspirant Ferdinand Waititu and urged party candidates and supporters to back his bid.
He was speaking during Waititu’s manifesto launch at Panafric hotel in Nairobi.
Uhuru’s call came at a time when former nominated MP Rachel Shebesh and outgoing Makadara MP Gideon Mbuvi ‘Sonko’ had announced that they were now backing Alliance Party of Kenya candidate Jimnah Mbaru.
Uhuru’s latest move appears to be a blow for Mbaru as the race for Nairobi Governor seat tightens between ODM’s Evans kidero and Waititu.
Jubilee flag bearer praised Robin Achoki, Waititu’s running mate, saying he has vast experience in budget management.
“Achoki has a lot of experience in budget management”, he said.
Waititu denied allegations that he was supporting Sonko’s opponent in the Nairobi senate seat.
“We are serious friends with Sonko”, Waititu said.
Uhuru asked Waititu, Sonko and Shebesh to shake hands in show of solidarity. Waititu promised that his team will deliver all the MPs seats in Nairobi.
“This team has no match. Others only read about Nairobi in newspapers. But this team knows and lives in Nairobi”, Waiitu said.
He faulted recent pollsters indicating that he was losing adding that it is a means to demoralise them.
Uhuru’s running mate William Ruto who was also present at the manifesto launch said the alliance had overcome many challenges and that was a ‘small attempt’ to derail their campaigns.
“We are on our way to victory. Nairobi is Jubilee. If you combine the talents of the three, it is simply unbeatable”, said Ruto.

  1. No hard feelings but I think we can only know the winner after Tuesday. True maturity in democracy calls for you to prepare your supporters for a loss as you psyke them for a win.
