Cord denies swaying opinion polls

NAIROBI, KENYA: Cord presidential hopeful Raila Odinga has refuted claims that his party has been swaying opinion polls in their favor.
The Prime Minister stated that Cord does not control opinion polls.
Speaking at the Orange house as he received Richard Onyonka and Joseph Lekuton who formally joined with the orange party, Raila said that added that he agrees with Infotrak’s findings.
In reference to the poll conducted between December 28 and January 2 that showed the Cord ticket leading with a 49% approval rating, he said that the surveys are done scientifically, saying they cannot be far from the truth.
The PM denied claims that he is a tribal chief stating that he has been and MP of a cosmopolitan constituency for the past 20 years.
Raila added political rivals were circulating tribal figures which were misleading.
On Sunday, Martha Karua openly criticized the polls claiming that the opinion of the Kenyan people will be known at the ballots.
“I cannot accept the results of a research that has been financed by my competitors to be the perception of Kenyans. My opinion poll is with Kenyans and the results will be known after March 4,” said Karua.
Senior members of the Jubilee alliance also rubbished the Infotrak results and urged the electorate to ignore the survey.
“I want to tell Kenyans that the Infotrak CEO, the General Manager and Senior researchers in the company come from one community that is related to CORD presidential candidate,” claimed Duale.
Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny last week claimed that CORD rivals were investing in opinion polls so that if they lose the presidential contest, they would claim the polls were rigged.
