KITUI,KENYA: Two Jubilee Alliance affiliate parties in Kitui County have differed over mode of nomination to pick the coalition candidates.
The National Alliance (TNA) party’s members are up in arms over a proposal to hold joint nominations with National Rainbow Coalition (Narc).
They accused Narc leader and Water minister Charity Ngilu of alleged plot to handpick her cronies and push aside TNA aspirants.
The two parties are now on a collision course, with TNA aspirants denouncing any association with Narc. They want the two parties to face-off at the ballot.
TNA county chairman Cyril Katunga said the party was opposed to giving Narc a free hand in nominations because its popularity has plummeted in Ukambani.
“We want to caution TNA top brass to tread carefully on association with Narc as we feel the party is a feeble and desperate partner,” Katunga said.
He spoke yesterday during a crisis meeting at TNA offices in Kitui town. Seven aspiring parliamentarians accompanied him.
