The Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK) has stated that the deadline for the SIM card registration will not be extended.
With only three days to go the commission is urging those with unregistered SIM cards to do so at the earliest opportunity of risk being barred from communicating via their mobile phones.
Information and Communication Minister Samuel Poghisio asked Kenyans to register their SIM cards to enable the government track criminals using mobile phones to break the law.
The CCK in conjunction with mobile phone service providers have embarked on a campaign to get subscribers to register.
Those subscribers using mobile money transfer services are however exempted from the the registration exercise that ends on December 31 upon which all unregistered SIM cards will be switched off.
