Voters should not be coerced, says Mudavadi

Kenyans should be left to elect the next President without undue influence, UDF leader Musalia Mudavadi said on Sunday.

Mr Mudavadi, who concluded his two-day campaign tour of Kirinyaga County, said no one should dictate to the voters who should take up the country’s leadership after President Kibaki retires next year.

“Kenyans alone have the obligation to decide in whose hands the country’s leadership will be in the coming polls,” he said during the consecration of a Sh26 million St Philip Anglican Church in Ndia division.

Coalition deal

At the same time, ODM and Wiper Democratic Movement leaders have revealed the two parties are working on a coalition deal.

Speaking during a rally in Machakos Town on Sunday, the leaders said a Prime Minister Raila Odinga-Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka coalition would deliver the presidency next year.

Cabinet ministers Anyang’ Nyong’o, James Orengo and Paul Otuoma represented the ODM team at the meeting.

Kangundo MP Johston Muthama, who has been in the forefront pushing for an ODM-Wiper coalition, was the convener of Sunday’s meeting.
