Monday October 1, 2012 - Members of the Bukusu Community have threatened to ditch the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) over claims of being sidelined by Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Speaking in Bungoma town at the weekend, Bukusu community spokesman Lucas Watta said the Premier has let them down by favouring Busia County instead of the larger Bungoma County where they have always voted overwhelmingly for him.
“You can see that in the recent Cabinet reshuffle Raila gave Busia County two Ministerial posts with Bungoma getting none,” he said.
The leaders said they will organize a community meeting next week to decide on whether to ditch the Orange Party for New Ford Kenya-Party associated with Justice and Constitution Minister Eugene Wamalwa.
They urged the PM to give them a Ministerial post or they will ditch him in a week’s time.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Monday donated books to students of the infamous Nyakemincha Secondary School in Nyamira County.
The school has been in headlines for poor performance in national exams.
