The ‘Raila for Katiba’ caucus in Narok County has defended National Heritage minister William ole Ntimama against attacks that he was attempting to impose leaders on residents.
Maasai Council of Elders and a section of clerics had criticised the minister after he endorsed some candidates vying for the county seats.
The leaders led by the group’s chairman, Robert ole Lemusa, accused the elders and clerics of showing disrespect to Ntimama, saying the minister, as a leader, had freedom to choose leaders.
“We are shocked by the unfortunate utterances made by some church leaders and respected elders against one of the most revered leaders of the community. It is time such people become tolerant to other people’s opinions,” said Lemusa.
Lemusa said it was not mandatory for Ntimama, the community’s supremo to consult on leaders’ choice.
