Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Justice
minister Eugene Wamalwa would have a joint bid in the presidential elections
due next year.
Wamalwa said the two have decided to team up the
way President Mwai Kibaki his brother, Wamalwa Kijana, did in the 2002 General
Election. “We have said we will walk together with Uhuru.
We aim to do the same thing Wamalwa (Kijana) and
Kibaki did,” Wamalwa said during a thanks giving prayer service for Dagoretti
MP Beth Mugo, who had undergone cancer treatment in the US.
Zero bloodshed
Among those who attended the function include Uhuru, former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta and MPs Martha Karua, Elizabeth Ongoro, Millie Odhiambo, Elias Mbau, Margaret Wanjiru, Rachael Shebesh, Ferdinand Waititu and Lewis Nguyai and businesswoman Mary Wambui among others.

He said he has faith the next president will be
elected without bloodshed, adding this was the reason why the G7 Alliance had
come together to choose one of them to run for the presidency.
“We will negotiate but without fear,” Wamalwa said,
adding the team know who it will choose. Uhuru said leaders have a duty to
unite Kenyans and not divide them.
“The most important thing is not just getting
leadership but what the leader can do for Kenyans,” Uhuru said. Uhuru also
called on the losers in the General Election to accept the outcome of the poll
or go to court if not satisfied.
“In 2002, I competed with President Kibaki and I
acknowledged defeat. The final verdict is with the people,” the DPM said.
Mugo urged Kenyans to support the Cabinet decision
preferring an electronic registration of voters.
“This way no vote will be stolen and on name
will be illegally added to the voter register,” Mugo said.
“With manual registration of voters, even dead
people will be added to the voter register,” Mugo said.
The minister at the same time said the
Government would soon set up the cancer prevention, management and treatment
centre in Kenya for breast, cervical, ovarian and prostrate cancer.
