Sunday August 5, 2012 - Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta received another boost on Saturday, after Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Eugene Wamalwa said he is ready to be his running mate.
Speaking during a thanksgiving prayer for Dagoretti MP Beth Mugo, who had undergone cancer treatment in the United States,Wamalwa said the two have decided to team up the way President Mwai Kibaki and his brother Wamalwa Kijana did in 2002 general election.
“We have said we will walk together with Uhuru. We aim to do the same thing Wamalwa Kijana did with President Kibaki,” Wamalwa said.
Wamalwa, who is also the Saboti MP said he has faith that the next president will be elected without bloodshed, adding that this was one of the reasons why the G7 alliance had come together to choose one of them to run for the presidency.
“We will negotiate but without fear,” Wamalwa said adding the team know who it will choose.
Uhuru on his part said leaders have a duty to unite Kenyans and not divide them.
“The most important thing is not just getting leadership but what the leader can do for Kenyans,” Uhuru said.
He called on the losers in the General Election to accept the outcome of the poll or go to the court if not satisfied.
Among those who attended the event is Narc Kenya Chairperson Martha Karua, Starehe MP Margret Wanjiru, Mama Ngina Kenyatta, Elizabeth Ongoro, Millie odhiamabo, Rachael Wambui Shebesh, Ferdinand Waititu, Elias Mbau and PNU activist Mary Wambui.
