44 foreigners arrested in Namanga border

WED July 18th 2012 –Police in Namanga border have arrested 44 foreigners following a tip off by the members of public early today. The 44 foreigners believed to be Ethiopians were arrested in a house in the town where they had been hiding.

One of their neighbours who tipped off the police told the DAILY POST that they started getting suspicious when all over a sudden one of their neighbours who is believed to have been harbouring the foreigners had such a large number of visitor over a night. However they began to get further concerned when the visitors did not know how to express themselves in both English and Kiswahili.

The residents decided to jointly take action and report the weird people to the police. When the police came, the man harbouring the foreigners took off and up to now has not yet been located.

The area OCPD, David Mburuka hailed the residents for being vigilant and encouraged them to continue being that way. He said that the foreigners were believed to be headed to SA through Tanzania.

The business of transporting foreigners from Uganda into Kenya has taken its tall within the Namaga and Busia border since the perpetrators pay good money for the service.

The incident comes barely one week after many Al Shabaab suspects were nabbed in Busia border trying to enter into Kenya illegally.
