Four cops on patrol in Majengo, Nairobi, found themselves in an embarrassing situation when they were ambushed by a gang of eight young men armed with AK47s who have terrorised the residents for a long time. The cops were made to lie down in the mud by the gangsters who took their guns and bullets and walked away.

Hawkers on Eastleigh First Avenue are up in arms against officials of the City Council of Nairobi pestering them with eviction threat "for obstructing traffic". The hawkers reportedly collected Sh700,000 from among themselves last week and gave it to the city council officials who have made it a habit to drive around in a battered lorry threatening to haul inside any hawker who does not "buy" his freedom for a fee. When the bulldozers moved into the area to demolish houses, the city inspectorate officials were once again "on patrol" asking the hawkers to "pay" for their liberty.

Martha Karua has decided to go up, close and personal in reaching out to supporters in her bid for the presidency. "The Iron Lady" has come up with an innovative way to reach out and raise funds for her presidential campaign. Her campaign team has organised the Jitokeze Diva's Tea scheduled for December 3. The event is expected to be "a powerful afternoon of celebration, inspiration and motivation!" The invite is to "divas" and their friends to attend the end-of-year celebration of the Kenyan woman. Tickets for the event are being sold in advance.
