Ruto accuses Raila of inconsistency

By Vincent Bartoo and Allan Kisia
Eldoret North MP William Ruto has accused Prime Minister Raila Odinga of being inconsistent and vengeful.
He further told Raila to expect a tough political battle come the 2012 General Elections.
"Yeye ni kigeugeu, tena sana. (He is a turncoat.)" Ruto said. He told the PM to get ready for what he termed battle royale that would separate genuine leaders from those who are insincere in their quest for leadership.
"We will show him dust, come next year when we meet at the ballot box," he said.
Ruto was speaking during the finals of Kass Chairman’s Cup tournament held at the Eldoret Sports Club on Saturday.
Raila’s supporters from North Eastern led by politician Hassan Shune, however, hit out at Ruto for his constant attacks on Raila.
"Every day, his presidential agenda is always Raila, Raila. He should stop wasting his energies on a personality and instead tell Kenyans what he has to offer," said Shune.
Speaking to The Standard separately, the ODM leaders said Ruto was displaying political immaturity by tiring Kenyans with the attacks on Raila.
But speaking at another function, Ruto, Saboti legislator Eugene Wamalwa, and nominated MP Musikari Kombo said the G7 alliance is not all about finding a suitable candidate to face the premier in the elections but a coalition to bring change to the country.
"Our team is concerned about tackling the country’s problems when it forms the next government," he added.
"Next year will be a competition of ideas and not personalities," Ruto further stated.
The MPs made the remarks in Webuye during a funds drive in aid of Matulo Girls Secondary School.
Kombo said the alliance is "youthful" and said that it would make the country prosper if it forms the next government.
He termed as "utter nonsense" statements by their opponents that they would have a problem picking a single presidential candidate.
Wamalwa said the country needs a results-oriented leadership.
"What the country needs is leaders who can perform. Members of our alliance are people who have proved they can deliver," he said.
