NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 27 - Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has cautioned political leaders against making inflammatory statements which portray the country as constantly at a state of conflict.

Mr Musyoka said leaders should not be using abusive language on other leaders casting them in negative light.

At the same time, he asked the business community to ignore the noise from politicians and concentrate on building the economy.

The Vice President, who was accompanied by his wife, Pauline Kalonzo was speaking during the launch of Mark Properties at Visa Oshwal, Nairobi where he was the Chief Guest.

Mr Musyoka applauded the tireless efforts and resilience of the Kenyan business people who have seen the country’s economic growth bounce back after the fall following the post-election chaos.

He commended them right from the hawker, to the shoe shiner, the mama mboga to the sophisticated players in the Nairobi Stock Exchange, as well as the leading industrialists and investors, saying they are the engine that moves the wheels of the economic growth of any nation.

“As a government we are committed to posting an even better growth rate,” he added.
Mr Musyoka said the newly promulgated Constitution places a great deal of emphasis on equitable economic development across the country, through the devolved system of government.

He assured that the government will continue to ensure that there is an enabling environment to do business, including looking into the cost of power and other necessary inputs.

The Vice President commended members of the Asian community who, despite being the minority in Kenya, have continued to trail braze in the economic arena thus acting as a motivation for other Kenyans.

“In fact I have just returned from Southern Sudan where one of you, Navnit Patel has invested substantially,” he noted.

Mr Musyoka also congratulated Mark Properties for having confidence in the Kenyan economy by investing in real estate.

At the same time, Mr Musyoka assured the new Constitution provides for dual citizenship and urged those who had relocated to Europe and other parts of the world to come back and invest in Kenya.

He encouraged all those who were in attendance to venture into Public Private Partnership (PPP), particularly in mass transport provision, road construction, development of real estate and other forms of infrastructural development.

Chairman Mark Properties, Mavji Varsan said real estate development is fast growing in Kenya and that they are committed to changing the face of Nairobi to be like other modern cities of the world.

Managing Director Mark Properties, Ravi Vasta presented a donation of Sh1 million towards the Kalonzo Musyoka Foundation (KMF) that will be utilized in assisting the needy in the society.

The launch was also attended by Public Works Secretary Gideon Mulyungi, Directors and Business Executives among other dignitaries.
