Gor Mahia crushed at Nyayo

By Feverpitch Team As if to tell Postal Corporation of Kenya, "you made a big mistake for pulling our from sponsoring us," Rangers FC crushed Gor Mahia 3-0 at Nyayo Stadium as the Kenyan Premier League season kicked off with ten goals scored across the country on match day one.
The resounding win for the financially handicapped Rangers will be sweet music for would be sponsors angling for the club. It was the masterstroke fielding by twin-coaches David Ouma and Michael Nam that pegged back Zedekiah Otieno’s Gor who have now failed four times to shake off the jinx of not collecting maximum points in their opening match.

The only dent, however, was the match being called off in the 80th minute after rowdy Gor fans invaded the pitch as Rangers annihilated K’Ogalo with three clinical finishes.
Pascal Ochieng, Joseph Nyagah and Kevin Ochieng scored for Rangers in the 30th, 38th and 55th minutes respectively. Apart from the score Rangers were the better side. Gor surprisingly started the match with two key players Collins Okoth and Kevin Omondi on the bench, but by the time they came in they could not make a difference.
Coach Zedekiah Otieno brushed off the loss insisting there are still 29 matches to go before the season ends. "I still believe we have a good team and we should not be judged by what happened today," he said.
Rangers captain Pascal Ochieng said it was a great start and were greatly inspired despite coming into the league without a sponsor.
In Mombasa,Bandari made a false come back in the top-flight football after they were beaten 2-1 by the visiting Chemelil Sugar in a Premier league match at the newly refurbished Mbaraki Sports Club. Milton Kidiga sought early goals and it was in thebeat an offside trap to slot in the opener beating goalkeeper Mohammed Hamisi. James Musasa notched home the second goal for Chemelil following another defence lapse. On the stroke of full time, Abdulwahab Musa entered into the books of scorers when he slammed home a powerful shot for the homeboys.
In Naivasha, Karuturi Sports started off well in their first premier league match after they edged Nairobi City Stars by a solitary goal at "Old Trafford" Stadium in a tough encounter.
The goal came in the 55th minute from striker Jacob "Abu’ Omondi from a corner kick taken by Peter Juma .
