KISUMU, Kenya, Oct 3 - Akuku Danger, the man touted as Kenya's most prominent polygamist has died. He was 94.
Ancentus Akuku Ogwela died in Kisumu early Sunday morning after a short illness according to his son Dr Walter Akuku.
"My father collapsed at home due to high blood pressure complications and was pronounced dead on arrival at the New Nyanza General Hospital," he said.
Akuku who married over 100 times and divorced 30 women under customary rites leaves behind over 160 children.
He will be remembered for not wearing long trousers until his death and marrying many wives.
The nonagerian who was known in his home area as Danger Akuku will also be remembered for building a school for his own children owing to his large family.
"I'm called Danger because I defeated so many men. I was very handsome and so I could get many wives.
"When I passed, people would point at me and call me Danger," he told the BBC in an interview, ten years ago.
Until his death, the late Akuku was managing his family business mainly in the transport sector.
